The newest Catholic

Joseph was baptized this past Saturday, January 29, 2011 at our church, St. Jude's in Makakilo. At St. Jude's they do the baptisms at one of the masses-at first we weren't crazy about the idea because we wanted it to be more intimate with just our family and friends; however, at the baptism class earlier this month they explained to us that they do baptisms at the mass so the entire community can welcome the little ones to the Catholic church. The ceremony was really nice and Deacon John did a great job and had a touching and meaningful homily reminding us parents that it is our job to teach our children about the values and beliefs of the Catholic church and to instill them in our children...something that we are looking forward to doing.
Aunt Laura and Uncle Dave are Joseph's fabulous Godparents and we feel so blessed to have them not only as great family but also as great friends. They will be wonderful examples for Joseph and we look forward to watching our families grow together. It was so nice to have Uncle Mark and Uncle Momo with us to celebrate as well. Of course we wish all of our family could have been there but at least we had both sides represented!
Joseph wore a baptism outfit from Auntie Patti. It was a little hot at the church so we let his legs hang out which made him much happier and he smiled and then slept through the entire mass! We were very touched that she gave Joseph the outfit-thank you!
After mass we went back to our house for a great Italian meal and cake to celebrate our little man! GNSTGBU Joseph...sign of the cross! (Inside joke for my fam ;)
